## SISE CONNECT
### Community Forum — Terms and Conditions of Use
**Version 1.0**
**Effective Date:** _14/08/2026_

## 1. Welcome to SISE Connect
SISE Connect is the online community forum of the Society of Indian Screen Editors Foundation (SISE Foundation). It has been created as a professional space where members can meet, exchange knowledge, discuss the art and craft of screen editing, share opportunities, ask questions, learn from one another, and build meaningful professional relationships.
SISE Connect is intended to reflect the spirit of SISE Foundation: a community founded upon democracy, equality, transparency, accountability, professional excellence, artistic freedom, ethical conduct, collective participation, and service to the profession.
By using SISE Connect, you become part of that community. We therefore ask every participant to use the forum with the same courtesy, professionalism, and respect that we expect from members in our professional and personal interactions.
---
## 2. Acceptance of These Terms
By creating an account, accessing, browsing, posting, commenting, uploading material, or otherwise participating in SISE Connect, you agree to these Terms and Conditions of Use.
You also agree to comply with the SISE Governance Declaration, the General Membership Handbook, applicable Membership Regulations, Foundation policies, and applicable laws of India.
The Governance Declaration is the principal internal governance charter of SISE Foundation and remains subject to the Companies Act, 2013, the Memorandum of Association, the Articles of Association, and applicable law.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use SISE Connect.
---
## 3. Who May Use SISE Connect
SISE Connect is primarily intended for members of the Society of Indian Screen Editors Foundation and other persons whom the Foundation may expressly permit to participate in particular areas of the platform.
Access to particular sections, groups, discussions, or resources may depend upon a user's membership category or the nature of the programme or community to which the user has been invited.
Membership or access to SISE Connect does not create employment, partnership, agency, ownership, or any other relationship beyond the rights expressly granted by SISE Foundation.
---
## 4. Your Account
You are responsible for providing information that is reasonably accurate and for keeping your account information up to date.
Your account is intended for your own use. You should take reasonable care to protect your login credentials and should not knowingly allow another person to use your account.
If you believe that your account has been accessed without your permission, you should inform SISE Foundation as soon as reasonably possible.
SISE Foundation may suspend or restrict an account where there is a reasonable concern regarding security, misuse, fraud, impersonation, or violation of these Terms.
---
## 5. Our Community
SISE Connect is a professional community, not a place for personal attacks or hostility.
We welcome disagreement, debate, criticism, different creative opinions, and vigorous professional discussion. Members may hold different views about editing, filmmaking, technology, artistic practice, institutions, or industry matters.
What we ask is that disagreement remains respectful.
Users should not harass, threaten, intimidate, humiliate, discriminate against, or deliberately target another person. Content that promotes hatred or violence, makes serious threats, sexually harasses another person, or deliberately attempts to cause harm has no place in SISE Connect.
We want the forum to be a place where an experienced editor can share knowledge with a newcomer, where a student can ask a question without embarrassment, and where professionals can disagree without becoming adversaries.
---
## 6. Professional Integrity
SISE Connect exists in furtherance of the professional community of screen editors.
Users should therefore communicate honestly about their professional experience, credits, qualifications, positions, affiliations, and achievements.
Members should not knowingly present another person's work as their own, create false professional identities, impersonate another person, or make deliberately misleading claims about their professional standing.
Where an opinion is personal, it should not be presented as an official position of SISE Foundation.
---
## 7. Respect for Confidentiality
The editing profession frequently involves unreleased films, scripts, footage, cuts, contracts, production discussions, private communications, and other confidential material.
Users must not use SISE Connect to disclose confidential information belonging to a client, employer, production company, colleague, artist, distributor, broadcaster, platform, or any other person or organisation without appropriate permission.
Particular care should be taken before uploading screenshots, scripts, footage, photographs, emails, contracts, production documents, or other material obtained through professional work.
A discussion about professional experience should never become an unintended disclosure of someone else's confidential information.
---
## 8. Copyright and Intellectual Property
Users retain responsibility for the material they post or upload.
You should only upload or share material when you have the necessary rights, permission, licence, or other lawful basis to do so.
SISE Connect should not be used to distribute pirated films, unauthorized footage, copyrighted materials, leaked screeners, unreleased cuts, confidential production assets, or other material whose sharing is unlawful or unauthorized.
When sharing the work of another person, users should give appropriate credit and, where necessary, obtain permission before sharing it.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your original intellectual property to SISE Foundation merely because you post it on SISE Connect.
---
## 9. Content You Post
You remain responsible for the content you submit.
By posting material on SISE Connect, you confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, you have the right to share that material and that your post does not knowingly violate applicable law or the rights of another person.
You grant SISE Foundation a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, store, reproduce, display, and technically process your contribution to the extent reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, moderate, secure, and improve SISE Connect.
This permission does not give SISE Foundation ownership of your work.
Where SISE Foundation wishes to use a member's contribution outside the ordinary operation of SISE Connect—for example, in a publication, promotional campaign, archive, or public programme—it should ordinarily seek the appropriate permission unless another lawful basis clearly applies.
---
## 10. Content That Is Not Permitted
SISE Connect must not be used to publish or distribute material that is unlawful or that materially harms the safety and integrity of the community.
This includes, among other things, content involving unlawful threats, harassment, impersonation, fraud, unauthorized disclosure of private or confidential information, infringement of intellectual-property rights, malicious software, or material that is otherwise prohibited under applicable law.
Users must not use SISE Connect to solicit or facilitate illegal activities.
The Foundation may restrict or remove content where it reasonably believes that the content violates these Terms, applicable law, or the safety and integrity of the community.
---
## 11. Personal Information and Privacy
Please think carefully before sharing personal information on a public or widely accessible part of SISE Connect.
SISE Foundation may collect and process account information, profile information, communications, and other information necessary to provide and administer the forum.
Personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable Indian data-protection law and SISE Foundation's privacy practices.
The Foundation will provide appropriate privacy information regarding the categories of personal data collected, the purposes for which it is processed, and the available methods for exercising applicable rights or raising a complaint.
India's Digital Personal Data Protection framework requires clear and understandable information concerning personal-data processing and provides a framework for individual rights and responsible processing. The 2025 Rules were notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology with a phased commencement schedule.
---
## 12. Children and Minors
SISE Connect is a professional community intended primarily for adults and professional participants.
Where participation by a minor is expressly permitted for an educational or youth programme, SISE Foundation may apply additional safeguards and requirements appropriate to that programme and applicable law.
Users must not exploit SISE Connect to contact, solicit, or otherwise engage with minors for unlawful or inappropriate purposes.
---
## 13. Moderation and Community Safety
SISE Foundation may moderate SISE Connect in order to maintain a safe, professional, lawful, and constructive community.
Moderation may include reviewing reported content, requesting clarification, limiting visibility, removing content, restricting participation, suspending accounts, or taking other reasonable measures.
Moderation does not mean that SISE Foundation endorses or independently verifies every statement made by users.
The Foundation may use human review, technical tools, community reports, or other reasonable measures to identify potential violations.
---
## 14. Reporting a Concern
If you believe that content or conduct on SISE Connect violates these Terms, applicable law, or the safety of another member, you may report it through the designated reporting mechanism.
A report should, where possible, identify the relevant post, account, or communication and briefly explain the concern.
The Foundation will consider reports in good faith and may take action appropriate to the circumstances.
False, malicious, or knowingly abusive reporting should not be used to silence legitimate professional disagreement.
---
## 15. Grievance Redressal
SISE Foundation shall maintain an appropriate grievance mechanism for complaints concerning the operation of SISE Connect.
The Foundation shall publish the applicable grievance contact details and procedure through the platform or another easily accessible official channel, where required by applicable law.
Where the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 apply to the Foundation's service in its capacity as an intermediary, the Foundation shall comply with the applicable due-diligence and grievance-redressal requirements. The current Rules require covered intermediaries to prominently publish grievance-officer details and provide a mechanism for complaints.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a person from approaching a competent statutory authority, law-enforcement authority, or court where permitted by law.
---
## 16. Removal of Content
SISE Foundation may remove, restrict, disable access to, or preserve content where reasonably necessary because the content:
violates these Terms;
violates applicable law;
infringes the rights of another person;
creates a significant security or safety concern;
contains confidential or unlawfully disclosed information;
is associated with fraud, impersonation, or abuse; or
otherwise threatens the integrity or proper functioning of SISE Connect.
Where reasonably practicable, the Foundation may inform the affected user of the reason for significant moderation action, subject to legal, security, privacy, and investigative considerations.
---
## 17. Appeals and Review
A user whose content or account has been restricted may request a review through the designated grievance mechanism, subject to the procedure established by SISE Foundation.
The review process is intended to provide fairness and an opportunity to correct mistakes while preserving the Foundation's ability to respond promptly to serious risks.
The existence of an appeal mechanism does not prevent SISE Foundation from taking immediate protective action where necessary.
---
## 18. Relationship with SISE Governance
SISE Connect is an operational platform of SISE Foundation. It does not create a separate constitutional body or governance authority.
Nothing posted on SISE Connect may be treated as a resolution of the Governing Council, Administrative Council, Executive Council, or General Assembly unless the relevant body has formally acted in accordance with the Governance Declaration and applicable procedures.
Likewise, discussion, polling, reactions, or informal voting on SISE Connect do not constitute an official Foundation vote unless expressly designated and conducted under an approved procedure.
The Foundation's constitutional principle remains **One Member • One Vote • Equal Representation**.
---
## 19. Official SISE Communication
SISE Connect may contain discussions about SISE activities, policies, programmes, and institutional matters.
Only persons authorised by SISE Foundation may issue official statements on behalf of the Foundation.
A member's participation in a discussion does not, by itself, constitute representation of SISE Foundation.
Users should therefore distinguish between personal opinion, professional discussion, and official Foundation communication.
---
## 20. Commercial Activity and Promotion
SISE Connect may provide appropriate spaces for professional opportunities, events, services, publications, educational initiatives, and other activities relevant to the editing community.
Commercial promotion must remain within the areas and conditions permitted by SISE Foundation.
Users should not use the forum for persistent unsolicited advertising, deceptive marketing, spam, referral abuse, or commercial solicitation unrelated to the purpose of the community.
Any sponsorship, paid promotion, institutional partnership, or official commercial association involving SISE Foundation must be separately authorised under the Foundation's applicable policies.
---
## 21. Political and Social Discussions
SISE Foundation recognises that members are individuals with their own beliefs and opinions.
SISE Connect may therefore allow respectful discussion of subjects that affect the creative community and society.
However, the forum must not be used to present an individual's political views as the official position of SISE Foundation, nor to harass, threaten, discriminate against, or target another participant because of their views.
SISE Foundation is a professional non-profit institution and shall conduct its activities consistently with its constitutional objects and applicable law.
---
## 22. Security
Users must not attempt to compromise, disrupt, damage, reverse engineer, exploit, or gain unauthorized access to SISE Connect or another user's account.
Users must not knowingly upload malware, malicious code, harmful scripts, or files designed to compromise another person's device or account.
Security vulnerabilities discovered in good faith should be reported privately to SISE Foundation rather than publicly exploited.
The Foundation may take reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect the platform and the information entrusted to it. Covered intermediaries are also subject to statutory due-diligence and cybersecurity-related requirements under the applicable IT framework.
---
## 23. Availability of the Forum
SISE Foundation will endeavour to keep SISE Connect available and reliable, but uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.
The forum may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, upgrades, technical failures, cybersecurity incidents, third-party service interruptions, or circumstances beyond the Foundation's reasonable control.
The Foundation may modify, suspend, or discontinue particular features where reasonably necessary for operational, security, legal, or governance reasons.
---
## 24. Third-Party Links and Services
SISE Connect may contain links to websites, services, resources, or platforms operated by third parties.
Such links are provided for convenience or professional usefulness. SISE Foundation does not automatically endorse or assume responsibility for the content, security, privacy practices, or availability of third-party services.
Users should review the terms and privacy practices of third-party services before using them.
---
## 25. No Professional or Legal Advice
Discussions on SISE Connect are intended for professional exchange and community learning.
Information shared by members does not necessarily represent the views of SISE Foundation and should not automatically be treated as legal, financial, contractual, medical, technical, or other professional advice.
Members should independently verify information before relying upon it where a decision may have significant professional, legal, financial, or personal consequences.
---
## 26. Responsibility for User Content
SISE Foundation provides the community space; users remain responsible for what they choose to publish.
The Foundation does not necessarily endorse, verify, or adopt statements, opinions, recommendations, images, files, or other material posted by users.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Where applicable, SISE Foundation will rely upon the protections and obligations available to it under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and applicable intermediary rules. Section 79 of the IT Act provides conditional exemption from liability for third-party information where the statutory conditions, including applicable due diligence, are satisfied.
---
## 27. Intellectual Property of SISE Foundation
The name **Society of Indian Screen Editors Foundation**, the SISE identity, logos, official publications, original platform materials, and other Foundation-owned intellectual property shall remain the property of SISE Foundation or their respective rights holders.
Nothing in these Terms grants a user an ownership interest in SISE Foundation's intellectual property.
Members may use approved SISE identity elements only in accordance with Foundation policies and authorised purposes.
---
## 28. Suspension or Termination of Access
SISE Foundation may suspend or terminate access to SISE Connect where a user seriously or repeatedly violates these Terms, engages in unlawful conduct, compromises platform security, impersonates another person, abuses other members, or otherwise acts in a manner materially harmful to the community.
Where the user is also a SISE member, action concerning SISE membership shall be governed separately by the Governance Declaration, Membership Regulations, and applicable procedures.
Restriction of access to SISE Connect does not automatically terminate a person's membership of SISE Foundation.
Likewise, termination or suspension of membership may result in corresponding restrictions on access to member-only areas of SISE Connect.
---
## 29. No Retaliation for Good-Faith Reporting
SISE Foundation encourages members to report genuine concerns.
A person who makes a report honestly and in good faith should not be subjected to retaliation merely because they raised a concern.
This protection does not extend to knowingly false allegations, malicious reporting, harassment through the reporting system, or deliberate misuse of the grievance process.
---
## 30. Changes to These Terms
SISE Foundation may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in law, technology, platform functionality, community requirements, or Foundation policies.
Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate official channel where reasonably practicable.
The version in force at the time of use will apply, subject to applicable law and any mandatory notice requirements.
---
## 31. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of India.
Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory legal right, remedy, jurisdiction, or protection available under applicable Indian law.
Any dispute concerning SISE Connect shall, where appropriate, first be addressed through the Foundation's grievance or internal resolution mechanism, without preventing any person from exercising rights available under applicable law.
---
## 32. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it lawful where permitted, and the remaining provisions shall continue to operate.
---
## 33. Entire Understanding
These Terms govern the use of SISE Connect and should be read together with the SISE Privacy Notice, General Membership Handbook, Membership Regulations, Governance Declaration, and other applicable Foundation policies.
Where a conflict exists, applicable law shall prevail. Within the Foundation's internal framework, the Governance Declaration, Memorandum of Association, and Articles of Association shall prevail to the extent applicable, consistent with their respective legal status and the law.

# A Community Built on Trust
SISE Connect is ultimately about people.
Behind every username is an editor, student, researcher, filmmaker, professional, mentor, or member of the wider creative community. We want SISE Connect to be a place where people can ask questions without fear, share knowledge without hesitation, disagree without hostility, and discover opportunities through meaningful professional relationships.
The purpose of these Terms is therefore not to control conversation. It is to protect the freedom to have a good conversation.
We ask every participant to remember the spirit in which SISE Foundation was created: **professional excellence, artistic freedom, ethical conduct, equality, transparency, accountability, and service to the profession.**
When we protect those values together, SISE Connect can become more than a forum. It can become a digital home for the screen-editing community.
By signing up for SISE Connect, I confirm that I have read and understood the Terms and Conditions of Use and agree to follow them. I also agree to uphold the values and principles of the Society of Indian Screen Editors Foundation and to participate in this community with respect, professionalism, and integrity.
**Welcome to SISE Connect.**
